Day 4 – Valencia F1 Test

February 6th, 2010 No comments

I knew the traffic would be bad and sure enough, the ques started well before the entry to the circuit. This was going to be the big day with Schumacher, Hamilton and of course the main contender, Alonso.

There was a media scrum outside the Ferrari garage first thing with photographers and TV crew getting pushed about by each other. An external security service was brought in to guard the front of the garage. It was always going to be a problem during the day. Ferrari work behind closed doors and there is literally no time from them firing up the engine to Alonso leaving the garage. It means that we don’t have a huge amount of time to get out of the way and even worse is you would move to the left hand side only to then get grabbed by security to pull you to the right.

Another eventful day out on the track. Reliability of these cars on the track has been very good over the last three days. Only three stops in total. Rubens Barrichello, Robert Kubica and Kobayashi.

I finally got around to taking a couple of photos of the motorhomes and hospitality areas. As I mentioned in my earlier posts, these are getting bigger and bigger. Before hand the hospitality used to just be a tent but now they are becoming more of a permanent structure. Certainly Mclaren have done well with their new motorhome which joins two HGV’s together to produce a large 1st floor office.

So the end to the three day test. Straight drive from the track to the airport and back to the UK. Currently the next schedule test for me is week 2 at Jerez. Only issue is that flight prices back from Spain are proving very expensive and with hotel, car hire, food etc these things are not cheap.
